U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam, Michael Michalak (above) was invited to speak at the International Disability Day event held on November 28, 2009, in Hanoi, Vietnam. VNAH assisted in the organization and sponsorship of this event with its local partner, the National Coordinating Committee on Disability (NCCD).

More than 2,000 attended the annual event including several hundred persons with disabilities. Many were there to attend the Job Fair activity participated in and supported by eight Blue Ribbon Employer Council members (BREC – a national council established by VNAH), Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), and the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM).

During the event, employers conducted hundreds of interviews and 90 persons with disabilities were offered employment.  Job Fairs have been an effective way to promote employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.
