With support from USAID and its government partner MOLISA, VNAH successfully designed and completed training materials on Social Work with People with Disabilities.
These materials were used in train-the-trainer (TOT) programs for students and teachers at the Bachelor and Master Degree levels in Social Work. Comprehensive instructional/teaching materials were designed with the assistance of nine master trainers in March 2015 and included advanced teaching methodologies organized and supported by the University of Social Science and Humanities (USSH).
The training was conducted in early April under the leadership of Dr. Tran Thi Le Thu, a VNAH consultant and expert in Social Work from Hanoi University of Education. Trainees included faculty representatives from seven universities in the country: Thai Nguyen University, Hong Duc University Quang Nam University, Hai Phong University, Hue University, Vinh University and Danang University.
A total of 90 Social Work students and 26 Social Work lecturers were trained during these sessions. In a follow-up feedback session nearly all indicated they felt more confident to teach SW with people with disabilities to their students. “This training was very beneficial. There are always new things to learn in the field of social work with people with disabilities, and this training highlighted that for me,” said MOLISA Vice Minsiter Nguyen Trong Dam.
