Sharing good practices in rehabilitation and disability services in Vietnam

VNAH, in collaboration with USAID and the Vietnam Rehabilitation Association (VINAREHA) organized a two-day conference for participants to share good practices and new developments in rehabilitation and disability services in Vietnam.

Over 230 participants representing national and local governments, disability and rehabilitation services as well as NGOs and universities across the country attended the event. On this occasion, several USAID’s implementing partners also shared their good practices and achievements during the past five years, and discussed with national partners the priorities in supporting persons with disabilities in target provinces sprayed with Agent Orange.

Many participants recommended future supports to focus on revision of the Vietnam disability law, expansion of health insurance coverage for rehabilitation services, as well as direct assistance such as home-based cares and rehab supports to people with severe disabilities, and service system strengthening.

VNAH has been a long-standing partner of USAID’s disability program in Vietnam. Over the past five years, the USAID supports implemented by VNAH has directly benefited more than 5,500 persons with disabilities in Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai provinces.

VNAH also supported national and provincial government partners to improve policies related to disability and rehabilitation, and to build up capacity for related service providers in these provinces.

Từ ngày 27 đến 28 tháng 4 năm 2021, Hội Trợ giúp Người khuyết tật Việt Nam (VNAH) phối hợp với Cơ quan Phát triển Quốc tế Hoa Kỳ (USAID) và Hội PHCN Việt Nam (VINAREHA) tổ chức hội thảo chuyên đề về mô hình phục hồi chức năng và tăng cường học hỏi, chia sẻ thông tin giữa các tổ chức phi chính phủ trong và ngoài nước thực hiện triển khai chương trình hỗ trợ người khuyết tật tại Việt Nam.

Hội thảo đã thu hút hơn 230 đại biểu tham dự từ UBND, các Sở ban ngành, các cơ sở dịch vụ về khuyết tật từ trung ương đến địa phương cũng như các tổ chức phi chính phủ và các trường đại học trên khắp cả nước. Các tổ chức đối tác thực hiện dự án của USAID cũng đã chia sẻ và thảo luận về những thành quả và bài học kinh nghiệm về trong công tác hỗ trợ người khuyết tật trong những năm qua và những vấn đề ưu tiên khi thực hiện dự án tại các tỉnh bị ảnh hưởng bởi chất độc da cam.

Hơn 5.500 người khuyết tật tại các tỉnh Tây Ninh, Bình Phước và Đồng Nai được hưởng lợi từ Dự án “Thực thi chính sách và Trị liệu cho Người khuyết tật tại” (DIRECT) do VNAH thực hiện. Ngoài ra, VNAH cũng đã giúp cho đối tác, chính quyền các cấp từ trung ương đến địa phương cải thiện chính sách về người khuyết tật, phục hồi chức năng và xây dựng mạng lưới dịch vụ ở các tỉnh liên quan.
